A Free OFX Selective Color Plugin Built Around Film Density

Most color tools make you choose between a broad adjustment that hits the whole frame and a fiddly mask that takes forever to set up. The SyF Color Shifter Pro is a free OFX selective color plugin for Vegas Pro that gives you up to six independent color choosers, each with its own isolation controls, so you can reshape the reds in a skin tone, deepen a blue sky, or pull a green back without disturbing the rest of the picture.

Six Colors, Each Fully Independent

The plugin starts with six color choosers already set to red, yellow, green, cyan, blue, and magenta. Pick a Target Color with the color picker, then shape it with four sliders:

• Density: deepen and enrich a color, or lighten and soften it.
• Luma: make that color brighter or darker.
• Saturation: make it more or less vivid.
• Hue Shift: rotate it up to 180 degrees in either direction.

Every chooser works on its own, so you can use one or all six at the same time.

Filmic Subtractive or HSV Subtractive

A Density Algorithm dropdown sets how the Density slider behaves:

• Filmic Subtractive: works on each color channel, so raising density pulls midtones down the way film dye density does while leaving pure black and pure white alone.
• HSV Subtractive: adjusts brightness and saturation directly in HSV space, for a more direct and predictable response.

Isolate Exactly What You Want

Each color has an Isolate it! section with separate hue, saturation, and luma masks. The hue mask has a center, a width, and a smoothness, and the saturation and luma masks each have a high limit, a low limit, and a smoothness, so you can feather the edges of a selection instead of cutting them hard. Turn on Show Mask to see exactly what you’ve isolated against a neutral gray, then turn it off to see the result.

Global Controls and Blend

Global Luma and Global Saturation adjust the whole image after your color work, and Global Blend sets how strongly the final result mixes with your original footage. It starts at 75 percent, so you can pull the whole look back with one slider.

Keeps Your Transparency

The plugin only changes color. Each pixel’s original transparency passes through untouched, so it works on layers with alpha as well as ordinary video. It runs in 8-bit, 16-bit, and 32-bit float projects.

GPU-Accelerated, With a Real Fallback Chain

The render tries an NVIDIA CUDA device first, falls back to OpenCL for any other GPU, and only drops to the CPU if neither is available. It stays fast on the widest range of machines, not just one brand of graphics card. One checkbox turns GPU acceleration off.

Run the installer.
(Note for Windows Users: As an indie developer, you may see a blue SmartScreen warning upon installation. Click “More Info” -> “Run Anyway” to install.)

Open Vegas Pro and navigate to the Video FX tab. Under the Scrapyard Films Plugins! group, you’ll see:
