Sometimes you just need audio to run faster or slower, without opening a separate tool or rendering it out first. The SyF Audio Velocity is a free VST3 audio speed plugin for Vegas Pro that does one thing and keeps it simple: one big knob that sets the playback speed of whatever audio runs through it.

Speed From 10% to 400%

The Playback Velocity knob goes from 10% to 400% in one-percent steps, with 100% as normal speed. Slow audio down to a crawl, or push it up to four times faster. Like a tape or a record changing speed, the pitch follows the speed, so slower audio drops in pitch and faster audio rises.

Made for Speed Ramps

Because Playback Velocity is a standard plugin parameter, you can automate it in hosts that support parameter automation, and build the kind of audio speed ramp that goes with a speed ramp in your video. A quick sweep up or down gives you that classic spin-up or slow-down sound.

Smooth Ramps

If you hear crackling when the speed changes sharply, turn on the Smooth Ramps checkbox. It spreads each speed change over about a tenth of a second instead of jumping straight to the new value, which keeps those changes clean. It’s off by default.

Simple and Real-Time

There’s nothing to render and nothing to set up beyond the knob. The plugin works on your audio as it plays, saves its settings with your project, and has no license key or activation of any kind.

Run the installer.
(Note for Windows Users: As an indie developer, you may see a blue SmartScreen warning upon installation. Click “More Info” -> “Run Anyway” to install.)

Open Vegas Pro and look for ~ SyF Audio Velocity ~ in your list of audio effects.
